Know when your boss can see your location and what busybusy does to protect your privacy.
We’ve all wondered if our mobile devices are letting someone, somewhere, know too much about us! Location tracking is being used more and more in our daily lives. Uber, DoorDash, and Target Curbside use our phone location to make our consumer experience better. There are some apps that track your location constantly, recording hundreds of pins a minute; busybusy isn’t one of them.

Here are some of the questions we’ve heard from employees about how the location services and busybusy work together. |
Q: Does my employer know where I am at all times?
A: No. busybusy only records your location when you are clocked in. We update your location pin when you clock in and out, change projects or cost codes, take pictures, or have a significant location change. busybusy is NOT constantly recording your location like a GPS mapping app that receives locations many times per second.
Q: Can I see what my boss sees?
A: Absolutely! There are not any pins hidden from you. You can always see every location pin that was recorded.
Q: Does the app record my location when I’m not clocked in?
A: No. Once you clock out, busybusy stops recording pins. But because we have you set your location services access to “Always,” we can help you out by doing things like reminding you to clock in when you get close to the job. It reminds you, but it DOES NOT record your location.
Q: Why are you grabbing my location in the background on the weekends when I’m not clocked in?
A: We aren’t. The map that pops up as a warning about having your location services set to “Always” is generated by the background system of your phone or mobile device. That map shows you where your mobile device has recorded your location recently. We do not have those locations recorded.
Q: Why do I have to set my GPS to allow busybusy to “Always” use my location?
A: Apple and Android changed their technology in 2019, requiring us to have that setting on “Always” if we are going to update your location while you are clocked in. We can reassure you 100% that our app records the location ONLY while an employee is “clocked in.”
Q: I lost my phone, can you help me find it?
A: If you, your wife, or your boss call us to help find your phone because you left it somewhere (maybe even buried it in a ditch...lol!), we CAN NOT ever track your phone if you are not clocked in. We can tell you where the phone was when you clocked out, but that’s the best we will be able to do to help.
Q: Can I use busybusy with my location services turned off?
A: That is a question for your employer. busybusy does not determine whether or not you are required to turn on your location services.
