Lock down Company Kiosk - Android Devices

This guide will help you prevent employees from using a busybusy Kiosk device for anything other than the busybusy app in Kiosk Mode. We accomplish this by locking down the device using a system setting called App Pinning.

What is App Pinning?

App or Screen Pinning keeps an Android phone or tablet in a single app. Setting up Screen Pinning is not difficult but the instructions for your specific device may be slightly different depending on the device manufacturer. The following instructions are for Android 14 (Samsung Galaxy).

Step One: Enable App Pinning

  1. Go to the device's settings.

  2. Tap on Security and privacy.

  3. Under "Additional security settings", go to More security settings.

  4. Scroll all the way down and tap into Pin app.

    • Toggle the setting On.

    • Toggle on "Ask for PIN before unpinning" (recommended, but optional). This is the PIN used to unlock the device.

If the steps provided do not lead you to the app pinning setting, your device likely has a search functionality that you can use instead, to search for the setting directly.

Additionally, you can try searching online for instructions that are specific to your device model and manufacturer.

Step Two: Pin the busybusy app

  1. Open the busybusy app.

  2. Tap the Recents button. Or, if you're using gestures, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold.

  3. Tap the busybusy icon above the app.

  4. Select Pin this app.

You have now Pinned the busybusy app. This will prevent employees from using the device for anything other than busybusy.

You can now start Kiosk Mode from the side navigation menu in busybusy and then configure the Kiosk device. Learn more about setting up Kiosk Mode HERE!

Unpinning the busybusy app

  1. Press and hold the ‘Back’ and ‘Home’ buttons at the same time, or swipe up from the bottom and hold if you are using gestures. (A message should pop up at the bottom upon pinning the app, which tells you how to unpin according to your settings).

  2. If you configured App Pinning to require a PIN before unpinning, the device will display the lock screen.

  3. The App Pinning has ended.
