You can quickly add new subprojects to an existing project by downloading the sample file provided in our Management Lists, and re-importing it to busybusy. This can save you loads of time when you have multiple subprojects to add to a project.

Would you rather do this by using the export/reimport method? This article will walk you through how to do that!

Add New Subprojects to Existing (one or multiple) Projects using the Sample File (Web)

Step One: Get started

1. From the left navigation menu select Management Lists.

2. Select Projects.

Step Two: Download the sample file

1. Click the 3-dot stack in the upper right corner.

2. Select Import Projects.

3. Click Sample File button.

4. Give the sample file a name and select a location to save it on your computer where you’ll be able to find it again.

5. Click Save.

Step Three: Open your newly downloaded .csv file

Step Four: Create your subproject and attach it to your project

1. Type an existing project's name underneath the column titled ‘Project Name’.

Very Important: You must type your project name exactly as it appears in busybusy. Check spelling, characters, and spacing. If your project name is typed wrong you will get an error message when trying to reimport this file.

2. Type the name of the new subproject in the column directly to the right of the project name. The column name is: 'Project Name Lvl 2'.

  • Include any additional information for your new subproject in the same row as the subproject's name.

  • This extra information is optional and doesn’t have to be included. It can also be added later if you wish by manually adding it within busybusy.

Note: If you wish to enable Reminders and/or Onsite Verification for your subproject type ‘yes’ in the appropriate cell. Add an address for your subproject, including the city, state, and zip code and busybusy will create a geofence for you using this address when you import your .csv file.

Pro Tip: You can delete any unused (empty) columns. This can make your spreadsheet easier to work with.

3. Create multiple new subprojects for this project by repeating the steps above.

IMPORTANT: Each new row must include the project name and the new subproject name. There cannot be empty rows between subprojects. See images below for examples.
